Introduction
Canvas is a web-based learning management system, or LMS. It is used by educators, scholars, and @Home Facilitators to access and manage online course learning. Great Hearts Online uses Canvas LMS as a central hub for course information, resources, assignments/grades, and communication. Canvas can be thought of as the digital "classroom."
For information on how Observers or @Home Facilitators' accounts work, please see Observer Account for a Parent or @Home Facilitator in Canvas.
If you are using a personal Chromebook device, a special setup is required. For information on this, please see Setup for Personal Chromebook Device for GHO Use for Scholars.

Forgot Google Password
If your scholar forgets their password, they may request a password reset via the “Forgot password” link on the Google sign-in page. A password reset link will be sent to the primary phone number or email address on file for your family. For more information, please see Cannot Sign into Google or Canvas Account.
Sign In from Windows and Mac
To log into your scholar’s Canvas account, you must have access to their Great Hearts Online-issued Google Workspace account using the Google Chrome browser. (If using a personal Chromebook computer, please see device setup instructions in the article, Setup for Personal Chromebook Device for GHO Use for Scholars.)
Step 1
Log out of any personal profile accounts in your Chrome browser. (For information on how to check the Google Account on your Chrome Browser, see the section below.) Ensure that you are either signed into your web browser with your Great Hearts Google account. Alternatively, you may fully sign out of all Google accounts and ensure you are using an incognito/private window.
If you attempt to sign into Canvas while signed into a web browser profile with any other account besides your scholar's Great Hearts-issued Google account, this will result in a 403 Sign in Error or other unforeseen issues later.
Step 2
Log in to your Chrome browser using your scholar’s Great Hearts Online account. (This account ends in @GreatHeartsOnline.org, @AZ.GHOnline.org, or @TX.GHOnline.org.) Please note that logging into other browser profiles or device profiles (Chromebook) will prevent access to the scholar account.
Step 3
Browse to greatheartsonline.org/canvas in your web browser or select the "Signing in to Canvas" article at the bottom-left of the homepage:
Step 4
Click the appropriate button at the top of the page. For most scholars, this is the top button.
Step 5
If you are logged into your Chromebook device with the GHO account, you will see the account listed for login:
Step 6
Once you select the scholar account, you will be taken to your Canvas dashboard:

For more information on how to access the GHO account on your device for the first time and for daily use, please see Setup for GHO-Issued Chromebook
In addition, if you set up your scholar's account or Chromebook using Family Link, this will also have a variety of unforeseen issues.
