Please create a Canvas LMS Observer account so you can interact with teachers and access progress information. It is vital that @Home Facilitators engage with their scholar's teachers.
A pairing code will associate your Canvas account to your scholar’s account, so you can communicate with teachers and observe progress. Ask your scholar to make a pairing code in Canvas by clicking Account > Settings > Pair With Observer. For detailed instructions, see https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-generate-a-pairing-code-for-an-observer-as-a-student/ta-p/418
To create a parent account, please browse, on your own computer, to https://greathearts.instructure.com/register. Click the “Parents sign up here” link, then fill out the form, including the field for the pairing code your scholar generated.
For more detailed instructions, see https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Observer-Guide/How-do-I-sign-up-for-a-Canvas-account-as-a-parent/ta-p/540.
If you already have a parent account, browse to the non-GHO Account login option on the Canvas Sign In page. Select the "Parent of a Canvas User?" option in the upper right corner.
Fill out the appropriate information, including the generated paring code from the scholar account.
If you have multiple scholars, repeat the process of generating a pairing code for each additional scholar, then add the additional pairing codes from your Account > Settings > Observing link within Canvas. Detailed instructions for generating and applying additional pairing codes is available from https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Observer-Guide/How-do-I-link-a-student-to-my-user-account-as-an-observer/ta-p/539
Please note that pairing codes are only valid for a single use. To register multiple parents or observers, please generate a new code for each scholar/observer combination.
Once an account is configured, @Home Facilitators can browse to https://greatheartsonline.org/canvas to log in to the web app.
