GHO-provided scholar devices are configured to use the Zoom Progressive Web App (PWA), as of the Chrome App's end-of-life in 2022. When these devices connect to the internet, they will be automatically updated.
Personal devices may require that you perform an update before you can connect to a Zoom meeting, including classrooms.
In the case the installed Zoom client is out of date, the user is presented with a browser page, upon which, near the bottom of the page, the page presents the option to "Join from the Browser." This will allow access to the meeting as a workaround until the Zoom client on that computer is updated.
Timeline
- On Feb 24, 2023, Zoom 5.10.3 or greater are required
- On Nov 5, Zoom client versions less than 5.8.6 are retired
- On August 6, 2022, Zoom Client versions below 5.3.0 are retired to address a critical security vulnerability
