As Zoom introduces critical security fixes, client software updates are required.
GHO-provided scholar devices are configured to use the Zoom Progressive Web App (PWA), as of the Chrome App's end-of-life in 2022. When these devices connect to the internet, they will be automatically updated.
Personal devices may require that you perform an update before you can connect to a Zoom meeting, including classrooms.
In the case the installed Zoom client is out of date, the user is presented with a browser page, upon which, near the bottom of the page, the page presents the option to "Join from the Browser." This will allow access to the meeting as a workaround until the Zoom client on that computer is updated.
Note: On August 6, 2022, Zoom Client versions below 5.3.0 are retired to address a critical security vulnerability. Any Zoom clients that have not been updated by August 6 will not be able to join meetings via the Zoom Client for Meetings and will be prompted to update or join from a Web browser.
