For scholars using either a personal or Great Hearts-issued Chromebook device and signed into their Great Hearts Online Google Workspace account, all websites are blocked unless exclusively approved by the school.
Scholars on personal Windows and Apple devices do not have URL blocking, even when signed into their GHO Google Workspace account. Scholars using a personal Chromebook not signed into their GHO Google Workspace account are also not subject to URL blocking, however, this configuration is not recommended as it often results in not being able to sign into Canvas and other platforms.
Blocking by Grade Level
Texas and National Academy
For grades Kindergarten through 8th, all websites are universally blocked unless used for school purposes and requested by teachers to be added to the URL blocking exception list.
High School Scholars in Texas and the National Academy are only blocked from websites explicitly added to our blocked URL list.
Arizona
For High School Scholars in Arizona, all websites are universally blocked unless used for school purposes and requested by teachers to be added to the URL blocking exception list.
For High School scholars enrolled in dual credit, a waiver must be signed for access to these courses, which makes users only blocked from websites explicitly added to our blocked URL list. For details about this waiver, please contact your Assistant Head of School.
URL from Assignment or Teacher is Blocked
If you encounter a blocked link that has been included in a Canvas assignment or given to you by your teacher, please contact your teacher so they can request the link be added to the URL blocking exceptions list.
GHO faculty and staff can find information about the request processes in Google Workspace: URL Blocking Exceptions List (Allow List) for Educators.
